Rex Hunt Joins Tobin Brothers Funerals to Celebrate the Lives of AFL Greats
After twenty one years of calling the footy for 3AW, a program that’s enjoyed mostly number one ratings, and playfully calling his ABC neighbours the “Tobin Brothers”, Rex Hunt will be jumping ship. In an ironic move, Hunt will be joining Tobin Brothers Funerals after years of good humoured teasing. But rest assured he isn’t joining the ABC, nor is he finishing his career.
Hunt will be celebrating the lives and revealing the untold stories of AFL legends through his new radio program This Is Your Football Life, partnered by Tobin Brothers Funerals and will be launched this Sunday, 13th April 2014. Bringing his inimitable style to the studio, Hunt will interview and celebrate the lives of some of the AFL’s most distinguished characters. The anticipated line up includes John Kennedy Senior, Ian Stewart, Sam Newman (pictured below), Shane Crawford and Barry Cable, to name a few.

Hunt said it was a privilege to host such a program:
“After 35 years in AFL broadcasting you could say I’ve done it all, but now I get the chance to tell and celebrate the stories and lives of the AFL greats I have admired for years,” Hunt said.
“The show will be a respectful celebration of the AFL’s most prolific characters, and it’s my priority in the final quarter of my life to assist in recording the magnificent achievements of some of the games greatest names. The suitable irony is not lost on me that after years of inadvertently promoting the Tobin Brothers I’ve now joined with them to celebrate lives.”
Tobin Brothers Funerals Managing Director, James MacLeod, said it was great to have Rex joining the Tobin Brothers Funerals Team:
“We are delighted to partner with one of the most respected identities in the AFL, who will be celebrating the lives of our most treasured AFL personalities. We could not have found a better fit, despite all the years of teasing!” said MacLeod.
This is Your Football Life can be heard on 1116 SEN each Sunday from 7.30am.
